Courtyard Views

The “Children’s Fountain”
in the center of the courtyard, or “Garth,” was
a gift from the architect Howard Van Doren Shaw.

In the summertime, free Noonday concerts are held in this tranquil setting.

Gargoyles, gremlins, and goblins keep sentry from the heights.

The covered “cloister” separates the peaceful courtyard from the crowds and hubbub of Michigan Avenue.

The steeple is ornately carved on all eight sides.
