Children and Youth Choirs

Enrollment is not required for children and youth to attend choir rehearsals, which are held during the school year, and visiting singers are always welcome.

Cherub Choir (age 4–grade 1)

The Cherub Choir learns a variety of age-appropriate songs, which may also incorporate movement and instruments. Cherubs participate in the Christmas Eve Pageant, Palm Sunday services, and occasionally sing the introit at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Rehearses Sundays, 10:30–10:50 a.m. during the school year, in Buchanan Chapel on the second floor of the Gratz Center

Children’s Choir (grades 2–5)

The Children’s Choir participates in the 11:00 a.m. worship service on the fourth Sunday of each month. The Children’s Choir learns traditional choral anthems and occasionally plays the church’s choir chimes. The choir also participates in the Advent Lessons and Music service, Palm Sunday services, and a spring concert.

Rehearses Sundays, from 11:00–11:45 a.m. during the school year, in Room 5B of the Gratz Center. Children who are waiting for rehearsal to start are invited to gather in Room 5H after 9:30 a.m. Sunday School, before 11:00 a.m. rehearsal.

Youth Choir (grades 6–12)

The Youth Choir participates in the 9:30 a.m. worship service on the fourth Sunday of each month. The choir learns traditional choral anthems in four-part harmony. The choir also participates in the Advent Lessons and Music service, Palm Sunday services, and a spring concert.

Rehearses Sundays, 9:30–10:15 a.m. during the school year, in Room 5B of the Gratz Center.

Handbell Choir (youth and adult)

The Handbell Choir participates in 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services on the fourth Sunday of each month between October and May. This is a five-octave choir plays a wide range of handbell literature.

Rehearses Sundays, 8:00 a.m. during the school year, in the east balcony of the Sanctuary

Taizé Instrumental Ensemble
(open to youth and adults who can play an instrument)

Taizé music is beautiful and repetitive so any level of expertise is acceptable for this ensemble.

Rehearses fourth Fridays at 7:00 p.m. (prior to the 7:30 p.m. service)
