| Adding
to our endowment is an investment in our future. The addition of
$10 million to our endowment ensures the stability and growth of
the many programs that are the heart of Fourth Church— the
worship, education and outreach efforts that truly make Fourth Presbyterian
Church “A Light in the City.” This ensures that what
others have built before us will continue to thrive for generations
to come.

Fourth Presbyterian Church is fortunate to have a substantial endowment
currently valued at $31.2 million. The church’s leadership
is careful to steward this precious legacy faithfully and responsibly.
The Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees oversees the
management of the endowment. Currently, we have seven professional
investment managers: The endowment is invested in a variety of instruments
including domestic and foreign equities, bonds, and cash.
The Session and the Board of Trustees oversee the use of the endowment.
The current policies of the church’s governing bodies permit
use of endowment funds for support of the annual operating budget
and for particular non-recurring special projects. In 2004, the
endowment provided 6.7 percent of the annual operating budget. |
