Upcoming Summer Fun!
June 24–27: Canoe Trip
We will canoe westward on the Wisconsin River
and
enter the mighty Mississippi River at the conclusion of our trip.
Nights will be spent camping on riverside beaches
and
enjoying fellowship around campfires and shared meals.
You’ll soak up some summer sun and cool off
in the refreshing waters of the river.
You definitely won’t want to miss this adventurous
start
to an exciting summer!
July 20–24: Triennium
Join thousands of Presbyterian youth from around the country
for this once-every-three-years gathering
on the campus
of Purdue University. We will travel there with other youth
from the Presbytery of Chicago for this unique
and
memorable experience. Your days will be filled with music,
worship, speakers, games, and plenty of free time
to meet and hang out with other young people.
Don’t wait for the next Triennium—seize the moment!
August 7–15: Work Camp
Our destination is Cary, Mississippi. Our mission is twofold.
First, we will provide services such as home repairs and
community activities for low-income families in and around
Cary through the Cary Christian Center. But getting there
will be part of our mission too, as we actively participate
in the ministry of reconciliation for our still racially divided society.
Building on our experiences in both New Orleans and Belfast,
we will be partnering with several predominantly
African American churches to create an intentionally diverse
and integrated group of youth and adults. Our travels will take us
to Memphis, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, and Jackson
en route to Cary. At these places we will learn about the history
of the civil rights movement and its legacy. We will be challenged
by our past and inspired for our future as we serve others,
deepen existing relationships, and build new ones.
Without a doubt,
this will be a life-changing trip.
