Click here for the latest issue of the Young Adults newsletter, with news about upcoming Gatherings, SpeakEasy outings, volunteer opportunities, and much more!

The Gathering, a weekly opportunity for Young Adults, meets summer Sundays at 9:50 a.m. in the Manse for fellowship and discussion. Afterwards those who are interested attend the 11:00 worship service together. If you miss the Gathering but want to sit with us during the service, look for us on the front left side of the sanctuary.

Gathering Series on Homelessness
Many of us regularly encounter those who are homeless. When people on the streets ask for money, how should we respond? What can we do to make a difference in their lives and in the situations that often lead to people living on the street? During the first three Sundays of August we will explore different aspects of the problem of homelessness and helpful ways we can respond to it.

Sunday, August 8:
The Changing Face of Homelessness

9:50 a.m. in the Manse

Who are the homeless and how did they become that way? Do all who are homeless have access to shelters, and what are shelters like? Dan Hula, Programs Development Manager at the Chicago Lights Elam Davies Social Service Center, will explore these topics and share with us the services Fourth Church offers those who are homeless.

Sunday, August 15:
Bruce Cane, Executive Director of StreetWise

9:50 a.m. in the Manse

You've seen the StreetWise vendors standing on the corner, heard them promoting this publication. If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of it, surely you’ve wondered, what is StreetWise all about, anyway? Join us on Sunday, August 15 for a special Gathering during which Bruce Crane, Executive Director of StreetWise, will give us the scoop on this not-for-profit organization and weekly magazine. The publication is not a handout, but rather an opportunity for its vendors to become financially self-sufficient through gainful employment. We hope you’ll attend this presentation that will wrap up our series on homelessness.
