Summary

The Program Coordinator works in partnership with the Program Manager of Summer Day in ensuring that both programs meet educational goals and fulfill the organization’s mission. Working closely with the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator assists in key areas such as student engagement, data management, relationship-building, and daily operations. The Program Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact with students in the mornings and afternoon and plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of program activities.


Program Description

Summer Day provides dynamic summer learning and enrichment to 125 students through creative academic, arts, and enrichment programming to combat summer learning loss. For six weeks each summer, Summer Day is a safe place for students to learn and grow by sharpening their academic skills in language arts and math, and engaging in music, dance, acting, art, and meditation.


Schedule

This is a seasonal job working Full- Time. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday 8am-4pm June – August. Paid Time Off days should preferably be taken when the program is not in session.

Compensation

Compensation for this position ranges from $22-$25 per hour based on experience.


Primary Responsibilities

• Partners with the Data Administrator to enter, update, and maintain accurate student and volunteer information in the database.
• Organize and execute Student Check-In and Volunteer Check–In (greet students and volunteers, track attendance, and distribute information).
• Works alongside Program Manager to facilitate positive relationships between students and teachers. Serve as one of the point persons for questions, concerns, conflict resolution, parent intervention, etc. Enlist and lead other Tutoring and Summer Day team members to support this effort as needed.
• Works with Program Manager to regularly and effectively communicate with students, volunteers, and parents through emails and phone calls.
• Works with program manager to address student behavior concerns, communicating with parents as needed.
• Works with Summer Day Staff to manage operational aspects of the Summer Day Program including helping with organizing field trips, supervision of students and volunteers, and student behavior management.
• Provide trauma informed care to all, ensuring that program environments and interactions are safe, inviting, and demonstrate best practice.
• Attend staff meetings as required.

Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods, stoop, bend, kneel to put away supplies. Requires strong vision and hearing for communication with students and staff.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
• If the current health conditions dictate, one must be able to participate in online virtual communications, including email, video conferencing, and other online tools used to facilitate virtual office culture and work sharing.
