Chicago is known for its lakefront and skyscrapers, da Bulls and da Bears. Now it’s time to spotlight some of the city's 130 plus outdoor fountains. These beautiful water-tossers splish and splash in fun, artistic, and surprising ways. Many go back to the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, and others are spanking new. These colorful fountains have fascinating stories to tell about their designers, builders, founders, neighborhoods, religious heritages, ethnic communities, etc.

This lavishly illustrated PowerPoint presentation will tour Chicago’s wet and wild side based on “Chicago’s Fabulous Fountains,” for which WTTW's Geoffrey Baer wrote the foreword. It is informative and entertaining and covers the art and architecture, as well as the history and mystery of Chicago's most fascinating fountains.

Greg Borzo is an award-winning journalist who has worked at the American Medical Association, Field Museum and University of Chicago. He has written 8 books, including the popular The Chicago “L” and Lost Restaurants of Chicago. Living in the South Loop, Greg conducts tours and gives presentations about fountains, the “L,” and Chicago history.
