Tower Brass was founded at Fourth Presbyterian Church in September 1997. Under the artistic direction of Matthew Comerford, the ensemble performs for services of worship on the third Sunday of each month, September through May, and at the annual holiday concert, Christmas with Tower Brass, at Fourth Church along with special concerts throughout Chicago. They have quickly earned the reputation of being one of the finest brass ensembles in the Chicago area.

Tower Brass brings a wide range of musical depth and experience to the ensemble, from teaching at major universities to performing chamber and orchestral repertoire. Their playing experience includes performing with such groups as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Symphony, the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta, Symphony II, Concertante di Chicago, American Ballet Theater, Minnesota Orchestra, Lake Forest Symphony, the Illinois Philharmonic, the Illinois Chamber Symphony, and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
